Fe, <0.15% C, 12.0-14.0% Cr, <1.0% Mn, <1.0% Si, <0.04% P, >0.03% S
Stainless steel grade 409 bersifat martensitic, dengan kandungan carbon yang tinggi dengan kandungan cromiun yang sedikit yaitu cuma 12% dan punya kekerasan yang tinggi sekitar 50HRC, sehingga cocok untuk di aplikasikan pada pembuatan dies (cetakan) dengan suhu tinggi.
